Reflecting on the story of Joseph in Matthew 2:13-15, a thought struck me. Have you noticed how Joseph fled to Egypt to protect Jesus, while Herod ordered the killing of all children two and under? Have you ever wondered why God didn’t stop it or why He sent Joseph to Egypt? We know God has the power to protect His child anywhere, right?
Now think about this: why does God sometimes allow us to go through difficult situations? Why does He permit hardships and challenges? Keep this in mind as we reflect.
Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Notice, it doesn’t say everything is good; it says everything works together for good. It’s the sum of all experiences—both good and bad—that bring about a greater purpose.
Think of a cake. A cake tastes amazing, but it’s a blend of different ingredients. Some, like sugar, are sweet, while others, like flour or eggs, aren’t pleasant on their own. Yet when mixed together, they create something delicious. In the same way, all things in life work together for a good outcome.
We often have questions about the challenges we face. We ask why certain things are happening. But God says in Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.” He calls us to peace, to trust that He is in control.
Today, let’s pray: “God, we know You understand the things we don’t. Though we face uncertainties, help us to trust You. Lead us to follow You, even when we don’t understand, and strengthen our faith in Your promise that all things work together for good. Help us to trust You more, in every chapter of our story. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
